A same-sex civil union bill has passed with a wide majority in Parliament, gaining support from political parties like the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), Potami and the Union of Centrists, along with some New Democracy members. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said he was pleased, and apologized to gay couples who had been denied this right in the past.
