Outgoing Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto announced on Thursday a plan to launch a new political party called Osaka Ishin no Kai on Oct. 24 to revive his signature Osaka metropolis administrative reform plan. The new party is expected to be joined by around 17 lawmakers in the Diet, Japan's parliament, who are poised to leave Japan Innovation Party.
