AUSTRALIA: PM Gillard Ousted by Rudd as Party Leader, Prime Minister [world politics news]

In a snap leadership election Wednesday, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd defeated Prime Minister and Labor Party leader Julia Gillard, his former mentor but recent rival who had ousted him in 2010. Polls showed Gillard was likely to have lead the party to a stunning defeat in the September election.
