#RUSSIA: EU Imposes Sanctions On Individual Hackers, Russia Denies

Russian officials have dismissed as “baseless” restrictions imposed by the European Union on individual Russians and an intelligence unit accused of cybercrimes. Moscow has hinted at a mirrored response to Brussels' sanctions.

The EU blacklisted four Russian individuals and the special technologies unit of Russia’s military intelligence agency, known as the GRU, which Brussels accuses of committing cyberattacks. A number of nationals and entities from China and North Korea were hit by sanctions as well.

#GERMANY: Hackers Post Personal Data Of Hundreds Of Politicians, Celebrities, Online

Hackers have posted the personal data, including credit card details and mobile phone numbers of hundreds of German politicians and celebrities. All major German parties except for the anti-migrant Alternative For Germany Party have been affected. Chancellor Angela Merkel, Green Party leader Robert Habeck and TV satirist Jan Böhmermann have all been targeted by the attack. The identity of the hackers and their motive are not known.

The data, published on a Twitter account, also included addresses, personal letters, and copies of identity cards.

#GERMANY: Parliament's Computers Have Been Hacked For Six Months, Agency Reveals

Unknown attackers have been targeting the computer network of the Bundestag, the German parliament for around six months, rather than since May, when the attacks became known. The hackers used several waves of 'Trojan' viruses to gradually extend their access to the network piece by piece. The infiltration was only discovered in May.
