The former opposition leader was allowed back in following a meeting of the disputes panel of the ruling National Executive Committee.

He had the whip withdrawn and was suspended from the party last month over his response to a damning Equality and Human Rights Commission report which found that Labour had broken the law in its handling of anti-Semitism complaints.

He said he would work "flat out" and lead a "people's government," and said that he was grateful for all the Labour Party voters who crossed the aisle to vote for him and the Conservatives.

Jeremy Corbyn said he would not fight another election as Labour's Party Leader, amid recriminations over the party's defeat.

#UK: Poll Shows Massive Support For Conservatives In Northern Labour Strongholds

Pollster YouGov showed Labour support is collapsing in the north, with prominent industrial counties - some of which that have voted Labour for decades - Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside now jumping ship to Tory in a spectacular show of support for Boris Johnson, the Brexiteer Prime Minister.

It's unclear whether the attack came from those in the civil service sympathetic to the Conservative Party, or whether it originated within the Labour Party's own ranks.

In June, 2016, Corbyn faced, and survived, a full-scale revolt against his leadership (and leadership style) when 11 members of his Shadow Cabinet resigned at once.
