#CANADA: MP Declines To Attend Gay Pride Parade, Cites Frog-Jumping Competition, Personal Views

[world politics news]

Ted Falk, a member of parliament in a conservative-leaning rural area of southeastern Manitoba sometimes referred to as the province's Bible Belt says he will not attend a gay pride march, citing his personal beliefs. He originally cited a conflict in his schedule - a July 9 frog-jumping competition. But he later made it clear he had personal reasons for not attending, "Even without a scheduling conflict, my decision to not attend would be the same. I've been clear on this issue many times, and have made my position public on my values of faith, family and community," said Falk.
