Comments made by Wolfgang Gedeon, an Alternative For Germany Party member of the state parliament in Baden-Württemberg appearing to minimize the Holocaust came to light during his 2012 campaign, and were raised again in the press. Party Pres. Frauke Petry says Vice-Chair Jörg Meuthen made the controversy "personal" by threatening to resign if Gedeon isn't thrown out of the party, causing an internal split among the leaders.
