[world politics news]
Voters of the United Kingdom voted Thursday to leave the European Union. 16,141,241 voted to Remain, while 17,410,742 voted to Leave. The vote caused an immediate economic and political earthquake, as markets sent the UK Pound crashing to 1985 levels and PM David Cameron announced he will resign and leave by October. Scotland's ruling Scottish National Party - which voted overwhelmingly to Remain in the EU - signalling it would likely seek another independence referendum and to stay part of the EU.
