Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, has expressed support for allowing homosexuals to marry during a TV interview. She has until now been guarded about her personal view on same-sex marriage, but said she supported the government's plan to put the proposal to a plebiscite.
