Pres. Raul Castro says the crisis in Venezuela, Cuba's key ally and main trading partner, is having a negative effect on the island's Communist economy. Officials have begun ordering energy-saving measures and rationing for the coming months. The Cuban leader said the economy grew just one percent in the first part of the year, half of what the government had planned for.
