#GREECE: Failure to Elect Head of State Leads To New Elections, Fresh Crisis

The failure of Greece's parliament to elect a new head of state - falling just 12 votes short of votes needed - immediately triggered a snap election within 30 days, likely to be won by the Leftist, anti-austerity Syriza Party. This is bad news for the EU, which is funding Greece's debt.
