#INDIA: Gov't Bans 59 Chinese Apps, Including TikTok And WeChat

Amid tense China-India relations, the Indian Electronics and Information Technology Department issued the latest notice that 59 Chinese mobile apps, including TikTok, Baidu, WeChat, and UC browsers, will be permanently banned from June this year.

Indian media and Reuters reported that the Indian authorities announced the "permanent ban" of 59 Chinese mobile apps, including TikTok, Baidu, WeChat, UC Browser, Helo, Likee, etc. 

Authorities announced the ban on these 59 applications, saying that the relevant applications have security problems, "endangering India’s sovereignty and integrity, national defense, national security, and public safety." At the same time, it has received many consumer complaints about some of these applications.
