Georgia lawmakers are considering imposing a state tax on digital video, books, music and video games. The result could mean that Georgia citizens could pay more for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Kindle e-books, iTunes music, Spotify and internet phone services.
American lawmakers may be listening to foreign legislators. In January, an Egyptian MP proposed a bill enabling the government to collect value-added tax (VAT) from internet companies such as Google and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
