#UK: Member Of Parliament Dies Of lung Cancer, Tributes Pour In

Fellow politicians have paid tribute to Conservative Member of Parliament James Brokenshire, who has died aged 53, having been diagnosed with lung cancer more than three years ago.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson described the father of three, a former Northern Ireland secretary, as the "nicest, kindest" colleague.

Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer called him "a thoroughly decent man."

Brokenshire, a lifelong non-smoker, stood down as a Home Office minister earlier this year.

#CANADA: Blogger's #TrudeauEulogies Hashtag Mocking PM's Castro Tweet Goes Viral

Canadian political writer J.J. McCullough, a conservative commentator and cartoonist, started the hashtag #Trudeaueulogies as a way to parody Trudeau’s statement following Fidel Castro's death. The statement, which merely called Castro "controversial," was widely criticized as fawning and uncritical of Castro's bloody rein.

#UZBEKISTAN: Parliament Names PM Interim Pres. After Death Of Long-Term President

Uzbekistan's parliament has appointed Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyaev as interim president following the death of strongman leader Islam Karimov, setting him up as the clear front-runner in the election to a full five-year term in December. The constitution actually called for the chair of the upper house of parliament to be appointed interim president, but he deferred to Mirziayaev.

#CANADA: Colorful, Controversial Frmr. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Dead At 46

Rob Ford, the Toronto city councilor who became the world’s most famous mayor during a wild, scandal-filled term, is dead at age 46. The married father of two young children died after 18 months of treatment for a rare and aggressive cancer first diagnosed in the midst of his 2014 bid to be re-elected mayor. Ford would have turned 47 on May 28.

#SAUDIARABIA: King Abdullah Dies; Salman Becomes King In Time of Mid-East Turmoil

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, who had ruled the oil-rich kingdom since 2006, died Friday at the age of 90. Prince Salman immediately became king. The transition comes at a time when the region is beset by political and social turmoil, as ISIS threatens both Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shia Iran.

#ARGENTINA: Prosecutor Set To Testify Against Kirchner Found Dead

A prosecutor was found dead the day before he was set to testify before parliament about Pres. Kirchner's alleged involvement in covering up Iran's 1994 bombing of a Jewish Center. Alberto Nisman reportedly believed she soft-pedaled Iran's involvement to smooth oil deals.

Former governor of Pernambuco state and Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, 49, was killed with up to nine others in a plane crash this morning near Santos, Brazil, south of São Paulo. His wife, young son, and staffers were also on board.

Asheboro businessman and congressional candidate, Keith Crisco, 71, died suddenly at his home today. He suffered injuries from a fall around 1 p.m. at his home on 1263 Thayer Drive in Asheboro. He was reported dead at the scene when emergency workers arrived there.
