Prime minister Rishi Sunak is set to announce the plan to implement the ban – using powers already in place under the Environmental Protection Act – which is expected to come into force at the end of 2024 or the start of 2025, during a visit to a school on Monday.

#AUSTRALIA: New Law Imposes Fines For Public #Vaping In New South Wales

Users of electronic cigarettes in public places can be fined up to $550 if they vape in public, according to a law that came into effect July 1 in New South Wales, Australia. The ban passed through the state's parliament earlier this year, and means anywhere that smoking is banned, vaping is too, including shopping centers, libraries, cinemas, bus stops, train stations, buses and trains, sports grounds, near children’s play equipment and outdoor dining areas. Vapers say they are upset they're being placed in the same category as cigarette smokers.

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order banning smoking in all public places throughout the country, both indoors and outdoors, apart from in tightly controlled areas. Filipinos will only be allowed to smoke in designated public areas not larger than ten square meters. Those who flout the ban will face four months in prison and a 5,000 peso fine. Tobacco advertising was also outlawed by the order.

#NORTHERNIRELAND: Ban On Smoking In Cars With Children Being Planned

Plans to ban smoking in private vehicles carrying children are to be discussed, the health minister has announced. Michelle O'Neill said it was "inconceivable that we continue to allow children to be exposed to such harm." In February 2016, Assembly members voted in favor of introducing the ban.
Similar legislation came into force in England and Wales in October 2015 and in Scotland in December 2016. In the Republic of Ireland, a ban took effect last year.

Legislation restricting the sale and use of e-cigarettes has been passed by the Scottish Parliament. Sale of e-cigarettes to youth under 18 or the purchase by an adult for a minor has been banned, and a new law also requires e-cigarette retailers other than pharmacies to be registered the same as tobacco vendors.
