#BARBADOS: PM Mia Mottley's Party Wins Landslide Re-Election to House of Assembly

Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has secured a second term in office after a landslide victory in the country’s first elections since becoming a republic. Preliminary results from the election this past Thursday reveal that the Barbados Labor Party (BLP), led by Mia Amor Mottley, secured all 30 seats in the House of Assembly. This is the party’s second clean sweep victory, the first being in the 2018 elections.

#BARBADOS: Gov't Raises Taxes 400% Amid Stagnant Economic Growth

The Democratic Labour Party government is confident it can close a fiscal gap in its budget with a 400% tax hike that has already raised $25 million in one quarter. But their "National Social Responsibility Levy" has come under heavy criticism from private sector business groups and Unions alike for raising the cost of living during a period of stagnant economic growth.

#BARBADOS: Oppo. Labour Party Hopes To Turn Up Heat On PM With "March of Disgust"

Barbados Labour Party Leader Mia Mottley says her party will ramp up the pressure on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, saying it was disgusted with the administration’s handling of the economy. She announced a March 11 "National March of Disgust," designed to show displeasure with the Stuart Administration's "indifference" and "incompetence."
