#UK: Disgraced Member Of Parliament Booted From Office By Recall Petition
[world politics news]
Disgraced Labour Party MP Fiona Onasanya has been forced out in her Peterborough seat in parliament following a recall petition.
A spokeswoman for Peterborough City Council said that 19,261 people signed the recall petition, amounting to 27.64 per cent of those eligible to sign, meaning the seat is now vacant and a special by-election must now be held to fill it.
Onasanya, 35, who was elected as a Labour MP, served just 28 days of a three-month prison sentence for lying about who was driving her car when it was caught speeding in July 2017.
