The US State Dept. has accused Israel of misleading the US in a rare sharp rebuke over its plans to build hundreds of new settlement homes deep inside the occupied West Bank. The White House said the construction of 300 housing units will be on land "far closer to Jordan than Israel," and said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had misled the Obama administration over the location of the housing, thus damaging trust. The State Department said building the units, "is another step toward cementing a one-state reality of perpetual occupation."
