#ITALY: Newly Installed Gov't Said To Be Short-Lived "Caretakers" Until New Elections

Italy's parliament on Wednesday approved a new government which is widely said to be so short-lived that its inauguration was seen as the start of battle for the next election. Incoming Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni of the Democratic Party was previously foreign minister in the government of Matteo Renzi, who resigned after the crushing defeat of his government reform referendum. The government was approved by a vote of 169 to 99 in the Senate.
