French Prime Minister Manuel Valls feels that a win for the far right National Front in the December regional elections would be tragic. “It will be a tragedy if the National Front won one, two or three regions," he said. NF Leader Marine Le Pen called his comments, "disgraceful behavior, scandalous and deeply anti-republican."

Prime Minister Manuel Valls has pushed an economics package through parliament designed to spur growth. The reforms, which include allowing shops in tourist areas to remain open Sundays, was adopted without a vote, using a procedure Valls has used twice before, over objections from hard-line Socialists in Valls' own party.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Wednesday that the authorities have to monitor nearly 3,000 people involved in “terrorist networks”, as he unveiled measures to combat militancy after the Paris attacks. He said the number of people linked to networks in Iraq and Syria had jumped 130 percent in the past year.
