#UK: Boris Johnson Is New Conservative Leader And Prime Minister, Inherits Brexit Mess

Boris Johnson today declared himself "The Dude" after Conservative voters elected him as their party's leader and the next Prime Minister after defeating Foreign  Minister Jeremy Hunt in a landslide.

The new Tory leader will have just 100 days to deliver on his do-or-die promise to take Britain out of the EU on October 31 - after winning twice as many votes as his rival.

#UK: Conservative Party Leadership Candidate Hunt U-Turns On Fox Hunting Ban

Fox hunting is part of the British countryside's heritage and should be legalized once again, Conservative Party Leadership candidate Jeremy Hunt said I'm an interview Wednesday, before changing positions on Thursday, saying he wouldn't support overturning the ban. Hunt received a torrent of criticism online and off about his comments.

The apparent U-turn in position has also raise issues of equivocation and leadership qualities. Boris Johnson remains the front-runner in the race to succeed Theresa May as conservative party leader.

Hunt also promised that he would give Boris Johnson a “very important Cabinet job" if he wins the Tory leadership election, but has been extremely critical of Johnson during the campaign.

#UK: Final Round Of Voting For New Conservative Party Leader Set To Start

Boris Johnson will go head-to-head with Jeremy Hunt to determine the new Conservative leader, after the final party vote took place Wednesday.

Foreign Secretary Michael Gove was eliminated in the final ballot of Tory Members of Parliament.

Around 160,000 Conservative members will now decide on who will become a the new prime minister in July, after Theresa May steps down.

#UK: Prime Minister's Cabinet Reshuffle Plans Thrown Off Course By Resignation, Stubborn Ministers

Theresa May’s planned cabinet reshuffle was thrown off course when senior members of the cabinet refused to move and Justine Greening quit the government after turning down a job as work and pensions secretary. Earlier, Jeremy Hunt rejected a new position as business secretary and instead persuaded the prime minister to allow him to remain at health in a beefed-up role taking on more responsibility for social care.
