The European Court of Justice has ruled that Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic breached their obligations under EU law by refusing to take in refugees.
The court says in its ruling that these countries had failed to accept their share of 120,000 asylum seekers who had arrived in Italy and Greece, under a relocation programme agreed by the European Council in 2015.

Controversial plans to axe the Human Rights Act have been put on hold following opposition from senior Conservative Party MPs. The Act protects fundamental rights and freedoms, including the right to life, privacy and free speech. Scrapping the act would break the formal link between British courts and the European Court of Human Rights.

#EU: 27 of 28 Member States Sued By EU For Failing To Implement Energy Law

Every member state of the EU except Malta was sued on March 26 over failures to translate the EU’s Energy Efficiency Directive into national law. The European Commission referred Hungary to the European Court of Justice, seeking fines of €15,444 a day for not implementing the directive by a June 2014 deadline.
