Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has cemented her place as Australia's most successful female leader thanks to her uncompromising coronavirus border closure.

She won a third term in office in Saturday's Queensland election, despite a border closure she ordered because of the coronavirus epidemic. 

Her victory gives hope to other premiers in Australia who have also undertaken brutal and costly economic shutdowns in their states.
