Following the passage of a report proposing the abolition of the death sentence last month, the parliament of Malawi has begun public inquiries in the capital, Lilongwe, on the idea.
The courts in this Southeast African nation have also begun to consider whether the death penalty violates the Constitution's protection of life, but have thus far stopped short of overturning the death penalty.
