#BRAZIL: Jair Bolsonaro Inaugurated As President; Takes Nation Away From Decades Of Left-Leaning Gov'ts

Jair Bolsonaro was sworn in as Brazil's president today, ending 15 years of socialist-leaning governments that have been racked by corruption scandals and a faltering economy. Bolsonaro's campaign was highlighted by an attempted assassin who stabbed him in the chest, leaving him in the hospital for weeks. He won broad support from men, women, the old and the young.

Bolsonaro, using a provocative style that has been compared to Donald Trump's, has pledged to purge the country of corruption and crack down on crime. Brazil's once-promising economy, which averaged 4% GDP growth between 2004 and 2013, has been crippled by recession and corruption scandals at the highest levels of government.
