As part of the coalition deal between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Jewish Home Party, Knesset member Eli Ben Dahan, a rabbi who’s made controversial statements about Palestinians and non-Jews, will be Israel's deputy defense minister. In a 2013 interview, Dahan said of Palestinians, "To me, they are like animals, they aren't human."
