The Spanish government has poured cold water on Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s proposal for a separate deal for Scotland if the rest of the UK leaves the EU in a hard Brexit. Sturgeon has laid out a detailed 62-page blueprint on how Scotland might remain in the EU single market, even if the rest of the UK is completely outside of it, similar to the relationship Norway has with the EU. Spain is reportedly wary of setting a precedent for its own separatist Basque and Catalan regions.
