Venice Region Votes to Secede From Italy in Informal Referendum [world politics news]

Fifty-six percent of registered voters voted in an online referendum supporting independence for the Veneto Region which includes Venice, and 89% of those voting supported secession. A more formal poll will now go ahead, say supporters, who are urging businesses to stop sending taxes to the central government in Rome.
