#NIGERIA: Gov't Proposes US$7.5 million Budget For Presidential Jets, A 19% Increase

Despite an ongoing harsh economic climate, the government is proposing to spend US$7.5 million in 2017 on fueling and maintenance of the presidential jets, an increase of nearly 20% over the US$6.27 million approved in the approved 2016 budget. In October, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari announced that two of the nation's 10 presidential jets would be sold in an effort to cut government waste.
