The Stephen Harper government now says it supports legislation calling for the removal of the federal tax on tampons. There have been several attempts since 2004 to repeal the tax. Opponents say it unfairly targets women. While cocktail cherries and Viagra aren't taxed, non-luxury items such as menstruation products are.
