#EGYPT: In Move To Separate State From Religion, Egypt Bans Imams Preaching In Mosques To Seek Political Office

Continuing its efforts to separate religion from the state, Egypt has banned imams from preaching in mosques while running for political office. To prevent mosques from being used as political platforms, the rule bans preachers running for parliamentary elections from delivering sermons or religious lectures in mosques once they announce their candidacy.
