Left Party politician Diether Dehm could lose his immunity as an elected official after he admitted to smuggling a refugee into Germany. Public prosecutors are considering lifting Dehm’s immunity as a member of the Bundestag (German parliament) and pursuing an investigation into him. Dehm admitted that he brought a young African refugee from Italy into Germany in his car's trunk to reunite him with his father.
