Home Secretary Theresa May is set to become the head of the Conservative Party and the UK's next prime minister after her sole opponent dropped out of the race to succeed David Cameron. After May secured the position, Cameron said he will step down on Wednesday, rather than wait until October, allowing her to immediately take office. He had originally said he would resign, following the defeat of the "Remain" side of the Brexit vote, which he championed.
