#UK: Four Seek Conservative Party Leadership

The former work and pensions secretary says he has the backing of the 10 MPs needed to progress to the next stage of the contest.

#CHINA: Gov't To Slowly Raise Retirement Age

Life expectancy in the country is now 78. But China's retirement age is among the lowest in the world - at 60 for men, 55 for women in white-collar jobs and 50 for working-class women.

#BANGLADESH: PM Blames Opposition For Political Violence

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has blamed her political opponents for the deadly unrest in the country that have left over 150 dead, adding she was "forced" to impose a curfew for public safety.

"We will lift the curfew whenever the situation gets better," she said on Monday in a meeting with business leaders in the capital Dhaka.

#KENYA: Pres. Ruto Says US Agency Hired Violent "Goons" During Protests

Kenyan President William Ruto has accused the Ford Foundation, an American private foundation, of sponsoring violence during recent anti-government protests.

Speaking in Nakuru, Kenya on Monday, Ruto claimed that the Foundation hired goons tto cause mayhem during the protests which led to the destruction of property and looting of businesses.

He challenged the organization to rebut the allegations and threatened to expel them from the east African nation.

#IRAN: Moderate Defeats Hardliner for President

Reformist Masod Pezeshkian has been elected as Iran's new president, beating his hardline conservative rival Saeed Jalili.

The vote was declared in Dr Pezeshkian's favor after he secured 53.3% of the more than 30 million votes counted. Jalili polled at 44.3%.

#UK: Starmer's Labour Party Wins Stunning Majority; Sunak To Resign As Tory Leader

The Labour Party has secured a landslide victory in the UK election to end 14 years of Conservative rule. “We did it!” Keir Starmer, the Labour Party Leader and incoming prime minister, said in his victory speech. “Change begins now.”

Outgoing Conservative Party Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat, saying it has been a “difficult night." He said: "Following this result, I will step down as party leader, not immediately, but once the formal arrangements for selecting my successor are in place."

#FRANCE: Le Pen's Party Wins First Round of Parliamentary Elections

Marine Le Pen's right-leaning National Rally (RN) party scored historic gains to win the first round of France's parliamentary election on Sunday, exit polls showed, but the final result will depend on days of horsetrading before next week's run-off.

The RN was seen winning around 34% of the vote, exit polls from Ipsos, Ifop, OpinionWay and Elabe showed, in a huge setback for President Emmanuel Macron who had called the snap election after his ticket was trounced by the RN in European Parliament elections earlier this month.
